MIKE PORTNOY

Michael Stephen "Mike" Portnoy (born April 20, 1967) is an American drummer primarily known as the former drummer, backing vocalist, and a co-founder of the progressive metal/rock band Dream Theater. Known for his technical skill as a drummer, Portnoy has won 29 awards from the Modern Drummer magazine.He co-produced six Dream Theater albums with guitarist John Petrucci, starting from Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory through Black Clouds and Silver Linings. From A Change of Seasons onwards, Portnoy had been writing a significant amount of Dream Theater's lyrics. He is the second youngest person (after Neil Peart) to be inducted into the Modern Drummer's Hall of Fame (at 37 years of age).

Portnoy was born April 20, 1967, raised on Long Island in Long Beach, New York. According to a post made by Jordan Rudess on his forum, Portnoy is ethnically Jewish but does not practice. His father worked as a DJ at a local radio station, helping Portnoy gain an appreciation for music at an early age particularly, as Portnoy has pointed out, because he had access to his father's collection of LPs. He developed a preference for bands including Rush, Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Iron Maiden, and The Beatles, among many others. Portnoy claims to be self-taught as a drummer, though he did take music theory classes in high school. During that period he began playing in local bands, two of which (Rising Power and Inner Sanctum) recorded and released independent albums. He left Inner Sanctum (his last high school band) after being awarded a scholarship to attend the Berklee College of Music in Boston. There, he met John Petrucci and John Myung. They formed a band, initially taking the name "Majesty" before changing their name to Dream Theater. They left Berklee soon after.

• 4biji telur
• 100gr gula pasir
• 1sdt ovallate
• 25ml susu cair/uht
• 50gr mentega,cairkan
• 100gr tepung gandum }
•                                                         1/2sdt serbuk panaik }ayak bersama tepung gandum
•                                                         150gr keju cheddar parut
•                                                          1sdm serbuk coklat,ayak.

Cara-cara

1. -pukul telur,gula pasir,& ovallate hing ga kembang.
2. -masukkan ayakan tepung gandum & serbuk penaik,kacau rata.
3. -masukkan susu cair,kacau rata.
4. -masukkan mentega cair,kacau rata.
5. -ambil 1/3 bagian adunan & beri ser buk coklat,kacau rata.
6. -masukkan 50gr keju chedar parut ke dalam adunan yg selebihnya,kacau rata.
7. -masukkan adunan 1/2 adunan keju td kedalam loyang yg dah digris,ba kar pd suhu 180c selama15 minit/ sampai permukaan kek agak kering.

1. -masukkan 25gr keju cheddar parut ke atas permukaan kek & masukkan adunan coklat td hingga menutupi permukaan keju td,bakar kembali se lama 15 minit atau sampai permuka an kek agak kering.
2. -masukan 25gr keju cheddar parut ke atas permukaan kek & masukkan adunan yg selebihnya ke atas keju td sampai menutupi permukaannya, dan taburkan keju yg selebihnya ke atas kek.
3. -bakar lg selama 20 minit atau sampai masak.

Malrboro, Dunhill, Winston, Pall mall, LM, and other cigarettes are something that we always heard. this is because they are one of the killing objects in this world. peoples always thought that smoking is a waste of time. they always said those who are smokers will live in short of period in this world. BUT they are advantages of smoking which is :

1. Weight loss

Perhaps more obvious to many, tobacco suppresses the body’s appetite and overall desire to eat for brief periods of time. For those who are excessively overweight and for those who battle over-eating disorders, tobacco has proven to show that there are direct benefits to smoking cigarettes.

2. Relaxant

Again, like weight loss, one of the main reasons people take up or continue smoking cigarettes is because it relaxes them during stressful periods. Although people have suggested taking up alternative habits to coping with stress, smoking is undoubtedly the most common method to relieving anxiety and stress for a short term.

3. Mental stimulation

Related to Benefit of Smoking #3 is the mental advantages of smoking you get. Nicotine – contained in all cigarettes – has been proven to stimulate the release of dopamine, a chemical contained in the brain that releases euphoric bouts of pleasure. Smokers often combat stress with smoking and in turn increase levels of happiness and pleasure for a brief period of time before the chemical subsides.

4. Lower risk of death following a heart attack

A recent study showed that another benefit to smoking cigarettes is that cigarette smokers appear to have a lower likelihood of death following a heart attack. Evidence also shows that smokers who do have heart attacks seem to have less dangerous heart attacks than non-smokers. Some studies have also shown that smokers respond more positively to post-heart attack treatment than non-smokers.

5. Lower risk or impacts of mental illness

Evidence also shows that a significant amount of patients diagnosed with schizophrenia use tobacco as a way to self-medicate. This reduces impacts of the disease and inhibits frequency of episodes.Smoking has also indirectly been shown to reduce the risk of mental illnesses such as Alzheimers and dementia.

6. Lowers risk of neurological disease

Prominent studies have shown smokers as less likely to suffer from neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s. Longer-term smokers, as it seems, appear to be virtually immune from contracting the disease, as opposed to short-term or non-smokers.

7. Lowers risk of need for knee-replacement

In a more specific area of the body, smoking has shown in scientific studies to reduce the likelihood that smokers will require knee-replacement procedures. Of course, the most likely explanation for this finding is that the majority of those requiring knee-replacement surgeries were joggers or rigorous athletes; a description that doesn’t exactly fit traditional smokers.

A drum kit, drum set or trap set is a collection of drums and other percussion instruments set up to be played/struck by a single player.

The traditional drum kit consists of a mix of drums (classified as classically as membranophones, Hornbostel-Sachshigh-level classification 2) and idiophones (Hornbostel-Sachs high-level classification 1, most significantly cymbals but also including the woodblock and cowbell for example).More recently kits have also included electronic instruments(Hornbostel-Sachs classification 53), with both hybrid and entirely electronic kits now in common use.

A standard modern kit (for a right-handed player), as used in popular music and taught in many music schools,contains:

• A snare drum, mounted on a stand, placed between the player's knees and played with drum sticks (which may include rutes or brushes)
• A bass drum, played by a pedal operated by the right/left foot
• A hi-hat stand and cymbals, operated by the left foot and played with the sticks, particularly but not only the right hand stick
• One or more tom-tom drums, played with the sticks
• One or more cymbals, played with the sticks

All of these are classed as non-pitched percussion, allowing for the music to be scored using percussion notation, for which a loose semi-standardized form exists for the drum kit. If some or all of them are replaced by electronic drums, the scoring and most often positioning remains the same, allowing a standard teaching approach. The drum kit is usually played seated on a drum stool or throne. The drum kit differs in general from those traditional instruments that produce melody or chords/pitch per se: even though drums are often placed musically alongside others that do, such as the piano or stringed instruments. Many drummers extend their kits from this basic pattern, adding more drums, more cymbals, and many other instruments including pitched percussion. In some styles of music particular extensions are normal, for exampledouble bass drums in heavy metal music. On the other extreme but more rarely, some performers omit elements from even the basic setup, also dependent on the style of music and individual preferences

Rock and Roll

With the ascendance of rock and roll, a watershed moment occurred between 1962 and 1964 when the Surfaris released "Wipe Out", as well as when Ringo Starr of The Beatles played his Ludwig kit on American television; these were events that motivated legions to take up the drums.^{[citation needed]}

A trend towards bigger drum kits in Rock music began in the 1960s and gained momentum in the 1970s. By the 1980s, widely popular drummers like Billy Cobham, Carl Palmer, Nicko McBrain, Phil Collins, Stewart Copeland, Simon Phillips and Neil Peartwere using large numbers of drums and cymbals and had also begun using electronic drums. In the 1990s and 2000s, many drummers in popular music and indie music reverted to the basic four piece drum set standard.

In the 21st century, it has not been uncommon for drummers to use a variety of auxiliary percussion instruments, found objects, and electronics as part of their "drum" kits. Popular electronics include: electronic sound modules; laptop computers used to activate loops, sequences and samples; metronomes and tempo meters; recording devices; and personal sound reinforcement equipment (e.g., a small PA system to amplify electronic drums and provide a monitor for singing) and triggers.

• Baru berusia 24 tahun, Balotelli menjulang tidak kurang tujuh gelaran utama dalam bola sepak termasuk Liga Juara-Juara, Liga Perdana Inggeris, Piala FA, tiga gelaran Serie A dan Piala Itali.

• Aksinya di peringkat antarabangsa tidak begitu menyerlah apabila hanya membuat 33 penampilan dan 13 gol untuk Itali sejak beraksi bersama juara Dunia empat kali bermula Ogos 2010. Dia bagaimanapun menjadi nadi penggerak buat negaranya mara ke final Euro 2012 selain mencuri tumpuan ketika perlawanan separuh akhir menentang Jerman.

• Balotelli meninggalkan pasukan AC Milan dengan rekod jaringan luar biasa dalam bola sepak Itali dan Liga Juara-Juara. Penyerang itu memeterai perpindahan untuk bersama kelab Serie A meninggalkan Manchester City pada Januari 2013 dan tiga hari selepas perpindahannya dari England selesai, dia membuat penampilan pertama menentang Udinese di San Siro dan hanya memerlukan 25 minit untuk meledakkan gol sulung buat pasukan merah hitam itu.

• Mahu menggunakan nombor jersi sama di Liverpool iaitu 45. Nombor sama ketika bersama tiga pasukan terdahulu, Inter Milan, Manchester City dan AC Milan.

• Balotelli pernah beraksi sebanyak tiga kali di Anfield sepanjang kariernya, kesemuanya bersama Manchester City.

• Mario berkawan rapat dengan penyanyi hip-hop terkenal Drake dan persahabatan mereka bermula ketika penyanyi rap itu membuat persembahan di Manchester dua tahun lalu.
